ACTIVITIES

Orientation Programmes

We have regular, compulsory orientation programmes for the parents at the beginning of each academic year. Usually this is conducted by an expert in the Montessori System. For teachers and akkas also, we have orientation programmes and workshops throughout the year. We also attend national and international seminars, congresses and second- Saturday meetings conducted by the Indian Montessori Centre.

 

Celebrations

We celebrate all the major festivals , like Ganesha Chaturthy,  Sree Krishna Janmashtamy, Raksha Bandan, Independence Day, Rajyotsava Day, Teachers Day, Children’s Day, Christmas, Deepavali,Id,Dassara, Onam, Diwali etc.etc .Every year, on August 31, we  also celebrate Dr.Montessori’s birthday,  on  a grand scale.

 

Tarang

Tarang is a classical dance and music progamme, which we arrange for the children on the last Monday of every month. We started this programme a few years back, to educate the children about classical music and dance..

 

Joy of learning’: Exhibition

Every alternate year, we conduct an exhibition of all the Montessori materials. This all-day long exhibition called ‘Joy of Learning’ is usually held during one of the weekends in September. 

 

Field trips

We take the senior children for a few field trips every year.

 

Class picnic

We take all the children for a class picnic once a year to a near-by park or play ground, where they spend the day running and playing to their hearts’ content. They also eat snacks outside and are given a lesson in how to eat neatly without littering or messing up the surroundings. The children love this little adventure, and look forward to the ride in the school bus.

 

Teacher’s picnic

We teachers also take a day off from our daily hectic schedule and enjoy ourselves by going out somewhere close by.

 

Sports

Our Montessori sports is different from the usual school sports because all the children participate in events and everybody get a prize.

 

Art and Craft

We do at least two craft activities every month. The craft work we do in the environment usually pertains to the celebrations during that particular month. For example, on Independence Day we colour the national flag and sing patriotic songs.
